LOCATE
BANGALORE

Situated in the vibrant heart of the city, this family home occupies a distinctive 3,000-square-foot trapezoidal plot with an unusually long road frontage. The design embraces the site’s geometry, using the extended frontage to create an open, flowing plan that blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. Rooms are organized to capture natural light and cross-ventilation, ensuring that every corner feels connected to the outdoors despite the compact footprint.

At the rear, a secluded courtyard has been carved out as a private oasis. Landscaped with native plantings, it becomes the family’s informal gathering place—perfect for leisurely meals, children’s creative hobbies, or quiet evening conversations. This intimate green pocket draws daylight deep into the home and provides a calming contrast to the energy of the surrounding city.

Above, the roofline introduces a striking architectural gesture: a series of playful, inverted, inclined planes that lend movement and drama to the long, narrow volume. These dynamic forms break up the massing, creating changing silhouettes and shadows throughout the day while discreetly accommodating rainwater drainage and natural cooling.

Inside, the interiors reflect a warm contemporary aesthetic. Extensive use of cedar wood infuses the rooms with a soft red hue and a natural fragrance, adding a tactile warmth that complements clean modern lines. Generous glazing frames views of the courtyard and street trees, while carefully chosen finishes and lighting enhance the sense of openness.

The result is a city-center retreat that balances privacy with connection, modern design with natural textures, and compact urban living with moments of serenity—an inviting family home that celebrates both its context and its inhabitants.
